AFTERCARE

TATTOO AFTERCARE DIRECTIONS

We cannot stress enough how crucial it is to practice proper aftercare with your new tattoo(s) so that they heal well and look the best! The following are our professional recommendations on how to take care of your fresh tattoo.

Leave the bandage on for 2-3 days. Then, wash your hands and carefully remove the bandage under lukewarm water. Keep in mind throughout this process that patience and gentleness are key when it comes to healing your new tattoo! Using your fingertips (not your nails), gently wash the tattoo with COOL or COLD water and mild antibacterial soap. We recommend SoftSoap or Dial. Then, with a dry and clean paper towel, gently pat your tattoo down and let it air dry. DO NOT SCRUB YOUR TATTOO.

Do not start your lotioning regimen for 24 hours after you remove your bandages. During the first couple of days, a scab may start to form over your new tattoo; this is a natural part of the healing process and needs its time to heal. Carefully apply a thin layer of either Fragrance-Free Lubriderm lotion or Aquaphor Ointment 3-4 times daily until all the flaking, peeling, and scabbing have naturally fallen off. Please be patient; this process usually takes approximately 2-3 weeks.

PLEASE DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING:

Pick or itch your healing tattoos. Let the scabs fall off naturally; they will fall off on their own when they are ready.

Expose your healing tattoos to direct sunlight or harmful UV lighting. Once fully healed, sunscreen will help prolong the life of your tattoos. Exposure to direct sunlight and harmful UV lighting will accelerate the fading process, even with new tattoos.

Use anything aggressive such as loofahs or washcloths. This will damage your fresh tattoo and may cause problems during the healing time of your new tattoos.

Swim or submerge your new, healing tattoo in pools, lakes, rivers, etc. This may damage the scabbing and potentially cause infections.

If you have any questions or concerns about your healing tattoo, please contact your artist or a trusted physician.
